Cassis Tuberosa

1990

The idea behind this installation was to pay tribute to a sad, dried-up lake located in the splendid Conca di By, above Ollomont in Valle d’Aosta. Cassis Tuberosa was installed in the centre of the large plateau as an element that evokes the idea of water. After about three years, the huge shell-sculpture eroded leaving just the iron skeleton, which was then recycled. The installation was close to the spirit of the land that now reminds me of several shamanic rituals that donate propitiatory and healing gifts to Mother Earth.
